Day 5: Taipei- Shui2Mu3, Dang4Shui3, Shi2Lin2

Day 5: Taipei- Shui2Mu3, Dang4Shui3, Shi2Lin2 Had breakfast at the hotel. The food sux… there were little varieties. All I ate was egg, bread and ham. After that, we waited aimlessly for our 3person room to be ready. The day started quite late at about 12pm. 1st on the list was to go to Bank of Taiwan to change my $100 sing dollars toNT$$. It was the only bank that I could turn to. Other banks dun entertain Spore money. As the lady at the teller was about to process my forms and stuffs, a taiwan businessman was willing to change my Sing dollars. In the end, we settled within ourselves at a rate of S$1 to NT$19. Of course I more than willing to change with him. I could not even get this rate in Spore. FYI, the exhange rate in Spore was S$1 for NT$18.7. Jess and CP remarked that I was lucky to have settled outside the bank as a lot of waiting and processing of doc was needed to be done with the bank, not to mention, the a higher exchange rate. We later bought a 1 day MRT tix for a flat price of NT$150 and alighted at Shipai Station. Took a bus to ‘Shui2 Mu3’ for a shopping again. We were roaming for presents for our frenz in spore… but to no avail. Nothing suitable… along one of the street, we spotted a house solely selling Haagen Dazs. Those branches in Spore are small, unlike this one we saw. There were even gates at the front! Due to the cheese-sharing hotel breakfast, our stomach started groaning very soon. We had a sumptous ‘yuan1 yang1 huo3 guo1’ along the streets at ‘Shui2 Mu3’. It was so much better than Seoul Garden and steamboat at marina bay. Free flow of crabs, fat prawns, weird prawns, mushrooms…not forgetting ice-creams… a wide variety. ‘Yuan1 Yang1 Huo3 Guo1’ means 2 different soup base. One is the normal soup base and another is ‘ma2 la4’. It costed NT$299 each person.
One of the friendly waiter came out to us and recommanded us to try the different sauces coz he said it will be quite blend without those sauce, esp for the normal soup base. We then realised that the locals taste were quite salty… they go for more tasty ones, whereas for us, we wont find it blend at all. The waitress there was very friendly, could strike a conversation even when paying for the bills. They started recommanding some places of interests… alsolutely approachable. CP then remarked that the pple here in general are very nice and friendly. Took the MRT to ‘Dang4 shui3’. Din really walk down the night market as our main aim is to visit ‘yu2 ren2 ma3 tou2’ (fisherman wharf). Took a jet boat to the wharf.
It was said that a scene from the drama ‘Meteor Garden’ was filmed here. Here’s the ‘qing2 ren2’ (lovers) bridge.
The bridge and the sea painted a very nice picture. It was a very windy evening. Gust and gust of wind howled onto our face and set my hair flying.. it was soo obvious from all the photos taken on that day that I was having a ‘bad hair day’. And thus many NG shots were deleted.. We wandered around the area, waiting for nightfall. Look at those cute signs indicating the ladies and gents respectively
Took a bus back to the MRT station. Did some shopping at the ‘ye4 shi4’. Bought many accessories like hair clips, earings and bangles. Well, when it comes to shopping… sorry CP, to have kept you waiting outside the shops. I bought some ‘mua3 ji1’ too. 2 packets for NT$90 each. Michelle told me that peanut and sesame flavoured ones from Taiwan are the best. Well, and I got her one packet. Tallest ice-cream I had eaten! More than 50cm and it costed only NT$20.
The ice-cream are not very creamy, it is mostly ice. We scurrying left the place at around 9pm to go to ShiLin ‘ye4 shi4’. The scenario was kinda different as compared to the one at Dang4 shui3, It was much more crowded and more zest. A midst the crowd, I suddenly spotted a familiar figure pacing few heads in front of me. “Lavin, Jess! Is that Lavin!?!” Such a coincidence to have meet a couple of coursemates in the bustling street of ShiLin ‘ye4 shi4’. We took a photo together before bidding goodbye to one another. Jess remarked ‘ so qiao to meet them here but too bad, not ur ou xiang’. We then carry on shopping. Go to Shilin must try the famous XXL chicken…NT$45 each
After a long wait…
Finally got my hands on the juicy fried chicken! By the time we reached Ximending, it was almost mid-night. All the shops were closed, the once noisy, filled with youngsters Ximending was now quiet and empty, only few souls walking around. That night, i was taking my time in the bathroom when sudduenly, the light went out! I was so scared and horrified till i turned mute. i carefully crawled out of the bathtub and walked to juz behind the doors and shouted for jessica. CP and Jess burst into laughters when i told them that there wasnt any light. Well... its all bcoz of those itchy hands of jess, she unknownly turned off the lights of the bathroom. We turned in at 2am…
