Met up with Yv for a movie, Fantastic 4. Not an avid fan of science friction flick, just want to kill time. Had been idling at home for more than a month. A slacker indeed. Yv was late for more than an hour. She must count herself lucky to meet me, a very patient person. It was a coincident to meet Michelle at Somerset Station Control. We talked little as she was rushing off for some appointment, perhaps more jumbo wraps??
Anyway, we got the 2.50pm tix at Cathay orchard before heading for lunch at the 5th level. I happily flashed out my matric card to entitle for the student price. The menu was interesting with every dish named after a movie. I had OCEAN TWELVE while Yv had FINDING NEMO. They were salmon and fish and chips respectively. But I still cant figure out the link between GODFATHER and the steak. Each main dish was served with free flow of soup and soft drinks. Food was not bad, but the service wasnt quite up to standard. Firstly, they got our order mixed up with another table, then they need to be reminded before serving us our drinks. I loved sitting by the glass windows and taking a helicopter view of Orchard Road. I find it therapeutic. Spent almost an hour there, doing some catching up. Well, it wasnt quite a 2 way communication or rather, I was more of a listener while Yv rattled non-stop. Haha.
Fantastic 4 turned out to be not as scientific as I thought. It was kinda cheezy. I kinda enjoy the show especially scenes when JOHNNY STORM, the human torch making fun of poor BEN GRIMM as the thing. Johnny can emit fiery plasma bolts of varing intensity while Ben relies on brawn over brains, he becomes a creature of incredible strength. SUE STORM, the invisible woman who has the ability to render herself and other objects invisible. She looks pretty good in the show with big sparkling eyes and soft hair styled. REED RICHARD, the Mr Fantastic was a genius. In terms of personality, literally and figuratively, he stretches himself too thin. I loved genius!! They are so charismatic.
There was still time for us to shop around Hereen before I made my way to Suntec to meet my buddies for dinner while Yv took the train home from Doby Gaut. It was pouring heavily it was quite a distance from hereen to the Mrt stations. We resort to taking a bus down Orchard Road. I decided to brave through the ordeal I encountered weeks ago on taking a bus from Orchard to Suntec. I was left with no choice anyway. The rain doesnt seem as if it wanted to stop.
Knowing that half of Marina Square has opened after months of renovation, we decided to have our dinner settled there. There is a new hunt for dinner called CHANGING APPITITE. Looks like a nice place to dine, but all of us had craving for CARTEL instead.
After dinner, we roamed around the place. The EBASE boutique was exceptionally big and spacious. Bought a casual green top there.
My buddies and I loved desserts. We had desserts almost every time after dinner. This time round, we tried cakes from Andersons at Marina Sq. Well, Gwen had banana choco cake which is too sweet; SJ’s apple crumble was served COLD. It could have tasted better when served hot. My tiramisu wasn’t rich enough. TCC is still my fave hunt for tiramisu. Cher who is the most fat conscious of all, had apple juice. Amy could not join us as she was up at Genting with her anatawa. *I know u are gg to scream at me if u ever gonna read this line*
