Happy Birthday to Jessica

Birthday celebration for Jessica Met up with YV and CP to celebrate Jess’s bday whose bday falls on the 17th of July. Happy birthday! We were going for the sakae buffet. Darn! I hate rains especially when I was about to get out of the house. Since the weather was kinda cold, it was a perfect chance to try on my new jacket, bought in Taiwan. There again, my phone rang, message from YV: can wait for me at the mrt station? I will be late. I knew it!! She is a superb manz! I thought I have always been the late ones among my buddies, guess I have been nudged into No. 2 position. I was made to stone at the station control for 45minutes before she finally arrived. Hungry man is an angry man, well, instead, displayed typically stoicism, I remained unperturbed. Thanks to those few strands of noodles from my bro’s lunch which I stole from before rushing out of the house. It was a long way to marina sq. I almost fainted when yv walked into a boutique along City Link. More pertinently, we were very late. I was disinclined to look at any of the clothes. We made many silly and erroneous turns and ended up at some offices and foodcourts. It was coming to 4pm when we finally arrived at Marina sq. I was quite puzzled as there was no sight of Jess and CP. They should have arrived long ago. Nevertheless, yv and I decided to get our hands on the sushi first. We asked for a 5 person table as Jess’s mum was going to join us. The tables were quite uniquely arranged. As we entered, there were steps leading to an elevated platform. Upon standing on the platform, the tables looked very low. I thought we had to kneel down to sit cross-legged like those traditional Japanese style. Taking a closer look, I realised there were holes underneath the table for our legs while sitting on the platform. Coolz. It was the 2nd time I had my meals this way. The 1st was years ago at BLACK TEA BOX along city link. But it was no longer there, was taken over by CREPES n CREAM.
As we happily perched on the platform, a familiar face caught my eye. THEY ARE THERE!! I cried. I first spotted Jess’s mum, followed by CP and Jess. We joined them at the table and the started ordering.
It was kinda nice to have Jess’s mum around as she too joined in our conversation and jokes with no reservation at all. I guess it must have dawned upon Jess’s mum that more than 50% of YVs conversation was kinda empty. Many a times we all dun quite catch what she was gabbling about. HAha. I was glad, being not the only one who was blurred or confused in trying to decipher her words and string them together. Not to mention, we had fun teasing Yv too. She has a flair to articulate in concrete form of catty comments about others or events that UN-silently flit through her mind.
After that, we proceeded to Bakers Inn near Fullerton for some coffee and tea. Jess mooted the idea of an alfresco session. It wasnt too bad that night as there wasnt much smokers around us. Of course, with some help of continuous gust of moving air. I had cafe latte served cold while CP had hot mocha and Jess ordered a large jar of rose tea. We all agreed that the rose tea we had in Taiwan was nicer and stronger. Yv had a large jar of lavender tea. Although i loved lavender aroma therapy, lavender tea is definitely a NO NO for me. Being sceptical about the tea, I decided not to try it. I reckoned it being pleasant to the nose but not a treat to my taste butt. True enough, CP and Jess made a common remark after sipping it- WEIRD taste. That night we left for home at 11sth.
