I cant remember exactly when was the last time I step into the vicinity of Tampines. It should be almost a yr ago, where I was going for a cycling trip at Pulau Ubin with my IA friends. The journey by train was a long-suffering of 1 hour from TP- Toa Payoh to TP- Tampines. I was bemused and chuffed when i reached Tampines Station control. It was laudable of Yv to arrive earlier than the supposed meeting time. How rare! Sagely, I forgo my lunch at home to accompany Yv at a foodcourt in the mall. Jess finally arrived an hr later as she had her lunch at home. We then started doing our shopping spree, or rather THEIRS. I had no intention of buy anything, just wanna kill time. We tottered from one boutique to another. Jess bought at least a piece of top or bottom from every boutique we went to. She is Filthy rich, isnt she?!! Actually, she has a couple of good excuse to buy them-
(1) receiving her 1st salary in a month time
(2) in serious need to import a fresh breed of clothes into her wardrobe.
Yv just received her tuition pay, another perfect excuse to buy clothes. Looking at them happily swapping clothes off the shelves, I got tempted. I decided to do my mini patriotic duty propping up the Singapore economy. Splurged on a top. Boo hoo...it wasnt enough for me to entitle a free dip of choco fondue from the towering chocolate fountain. Stole a dip from Jess as she had spent enough for 2 dips. It was miraculously luscious! I was imparted by dad that- Nothing in this world is for free. thus subconsciously developed the perception that things come by free are of sub quality. The chocolate was surprisingly rich. Jess finished her shopping list with some groceries- prata from NTUC.
Strangely, I was dead beat after that and make a move first while Yv went to Jess’s place to retrieve Jess’s un-legged music box to help her exchange for a new piece.
