National Day
Tuesday, August 09, 2005
National day= public holiday= shopping day.
Went for some shopping spree with mummy. Orchard Road wasn’t quite crowded, perhaps because many had gone for the celebration at padang, yishun and other heartlands. This year’s national day was different from the previous years. It was the pioneer year that celebration was held at different corners for spore but as the same time.
Anyway, I was very glad that the streets of orchard road were as crowded as it should be. Got my hands on a pair of ‘Marissa’ square cut jeans. The way they name the cut always reminds me of spongebot square pants. It was such a disappointment that the 20% storewide discount at some departmental stores does not extend to all products. Nevertheless, we still got some products off KOSE shelves.
We later had dinner at PEPPER LUNCH. It was new in town. There are 2 outlets, one at Ngee Ann City and another at Isetan Scotts.
The sizzling sound caught our attention. Peeping into the glass window, we realised that all on the menu was served on hot pans. Look, hear and smell yummy. As we entered the outlet at Isetan Scotts, we were greeted warmly by a waiter who showed us our seats. It was something like a fastfood restaurant concept as we ordered from the counter and pay on the spot. the delicacies will be served to us later. Shortly, a waiter came with our order, Beef Pepper Rice and Double Chicken Steak. The beef was still raw. He then showed us how to cook it. For the Beef Pepper Rice, delicious butter hidden beneath the rice and beef. So we are supposed to mix mix mix, then pour sauce of our choice and mix well again. I bet the pans was damn hot. Just seconds, the beef was cooked before my eyes. As for the steak, we are supposed to spread this special butter on meat, quickly turn over as it cooks fast, then cook vegetables. There was a generous serving of bean sprouts and some carrots and long beans. This hands-on concept was quite interesting to me. Being an avid fan of pepper, I love the beef PEPPER rice! It was too luscious to watch my waistline. I kept popping mouthful of them. It was one of those rare times that I finished all my rice without qualms. As Mum’s steak was served with plain rice and soup, she kept stealing my lukewarm thickly aroma rice. HahA! We both felt quite sinful after that, with tummy at the brink of bulging out, we decided to walk and do some window shopping at Isetan. However, there is just this one thing I don’t like about eating at PEPPER LUNCH is the fusty oily smell hits you when you walk in. It is inevitable to come out of the place with hair freed from those oily smells.
