Orientation
Wednesday, October 05, 2005
It has been a month since work started. I’m finally going for my co. orientation. I was held up with trainings and tasks to accomplish that I almost give October’s orientation a miss. Well, I was supposed to go for the one scheduled in September.
I had fun, especially the games, throughout the 3 days or Orientation. I know much more about the roles of other departments and the orgcharts of different departments. There are 25 of us in this big meeting room and only 6 of us were FRESH grads.
Me and my 2 other colleagues were not seated together as we were 5 mins late on the very 1st day. On my left was this poly IA student and this EEE guy graduated years ago was on my right. There were several ‘uncles’ I managed to talk to. One is a manager and the other is a staff engineer. being sandwiched between 2 person without common topics was terrible. Probably that’s y I enjoyed the games most when we get to linger around. I was quite impressed with one of the games- WHO WANTS TO BE A XXXXXXXXX. I could see that the HR had put in a lot of effort in making this game so much alike the real TV show, esp the screen and sound effect. 2.5 days of orientation ended so swiftly that I start to miss orientation the moment I returned to office on the following day. We had lunch together on the last day of orientation to do some networking. Most of us will be posted to the same plan.
